NothingLoads (nothingloads.com) is a consumer-security company for household continuity, built on one promise: when systems fail, your household doesn't. It starts with the free NothingLoads Check — a three-minute simulated outage that scores what an ordinary family could still do if the internet stopped: navigate, reach each other, prove identity, pay, know things, keep power, run the home, reunite — and a $79 print-at-home Offline Family Kit that closes the gaps it finds. A battery-backed household appliance, NothingLoads Core, is in development behind an honest waitlist: no preorders, no ship date, and no promises about unbuilt hardware.
The position: fear that's true
The pitch is fear — a powered phone on which nothing loads. The rule is that the fear has to be true, so the honesty is structural, not decorative. The Ready Score is labeled estimated and self-reported, with its method one tap away — today, your score is what you told us. The First Hour timeline is labeled a simulation built only from the household's own answers, never a prediction. The one countdown in the product is real — reports delete after seven days, enforced on the server — and there are no others: no invented scarcity for a digital kit, no fake ship dates, no claims that an outage is coming. NothingLoads never anchors to a war, an election, or a date, and the villain in every sentence is dependence, never people. Households that score high are told the truth: they're genuinely close, and the kit turns close into checked.
Privacy, by construction
The kit's phone cards — contacts, meeting spots — are generated in the customer's own browser and never sent to a server. NothingLoads never collects passwords, Social Security numbers, financial details, or medical records; families keep sensitive information on their own devices. This is how the product is built, not a policy promise.
Founder
Adam Ferree, Greenfield, Indiana. He builds and runs NothingLoads himself, and the Check's questions are the ones he asked at his own kitchen table.
